Principal's Welcome Message

Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year at Woodland Hills Academy. Here we are dedicated to providing excellent educational programs through effective teaching and a positive learning environment. This enables all students to achieve at a high level of success and become productive members of society. It is our responsibility to help each student acquire the tools of knowledge necessary to successfully pursue their education and to provide a positive and safe environment in which to learn and grow.

Many schools continue to visit WHA and inquire about our Expanded School Based Managed Model or ESBMM. We are the cutting edge of LAUSD with flexibility in curriculum, budgets, hiring and more. We are creating the most for our students by offering school-day intervention, more elective classes (cooking, journalism, photography, etc.), a rotating block schedule and other innovative ideas.

Our Friends of WHA (Friends) continue to support us by fundraising, volunteering, recruiting and more. They fund fieldtrips, college tours, museum visits, Shakespeare plays, provide technology in classrooms, and supplementary curriculum, to list a few. Our teachers are encouraged to think outside of the box and are supported financially by Friends.

Together, we continue to make Woodland Hills Academy a strong community. Thank you for your support and remember that my door is always open.

   Sincerely,

    Mr. Ed Hayek, Principal
